Treadmill with Sandra in the AM. Worked. Tattoo, more blue octopus, and Ben came home finally! We sat on the sofa and watched DVR. All our shows are back on!

Worked a long day. Dinner with Molly Peck and Greg Broxton at Veselka. Stuck to the diet!
South Beach diet day 1. I love this. Meat, yogurt, eggs, veggies. All my favorite things. Worked, went home and cleaned the apartment.
Another big breakfast. Charlie had to go home so we dropped him off at the train and went to, surprise, Target. Went to Lost and Found and bought vintage Danish salt and pepper grinders. Back to the house. Bloody Maries. Left-over ribs. Uh-oh. Weather perfect. Unable to leave the outdoors we continued to drink in the sun all afternoon. Which created a problem of how we'd get home. Luckily, Matthew had not drank as much as David, Jesse, and I and drove us home at 10PM Sunday night, a great weekend.
Oh, we all got on a scale and we were all (but Matthew) 10 pounds more then we said we were! So David, Jesse, and I are starting South Beach.
In the AM Dvid made crepes and my God it was 80 degrees and sunny. Charlie had to work and Matthew went running, so David, Jesse, and I went into town and bought groceries. I love the difference between the two of them. They can and will be new best friends. We had fun in the grocery store. Headed home and ate steak sandwiches, outside. Tyler and Michael came over and we drank wine, drank Matthew's berry cocktail, ate shrimp, smoked ribs, cole slaw, creme brulee. So good. Watched Little Britain and Polysester.
Up early to work and feeling remarkably OK. Left work and met David at the produce store. Shopped and loaded the car and Jesse Cozart and Matthew Siedoff arrived. Picked up Charlie Herschel from work and David drove upstate. He grilled steaks, onions, and fennel when we got there and we drank wine and caught up and watched TV.
I got up and walked to work. The weather is just lovely. I am becoming addicted to these Amy’s Bread sandwiches with goat cheese and eggplant. Went to the Upper East Side and met Angela Adams before hew lecture. A guy, and I am forgetting his name, came up to me and said “are you Bradford?” Turns out he knows Roby and Shannon Murray and recognized my face from the internet. He was once babysat by Angela on an island off Maine. Small world.
I cabbed downtown and popped into Fedora Bar and had vodka and sodas with Jon Robin Baitz. The bartender and owner had been there for 30 plus years. JRB had gotten me a shirt (I saw him wearing it on Facebook and had to have it). We then went to Blue Hill for dinner and had the tasting and talked with the two guys next to us all night long. They were philosophers from Yale and Oxford. The food was great, except for what Robbie and I called the guacamole sorbet. Good times.
Drank too many margaritas today. Drinks with Shannon Delucchi, Matt Wilkerson, James Victore, Hunter, Sandra, DWR crew. Tacos. Spicy food. Frozen drinks. Shag. A blur. James gave me a shirt he made. Says “American Badass.” That’s right.
Worked 8AM to almost 9PM. Supposed to have dinner with Michael Lucas but he worked late. Walked home in a near perfect temperature. Dinner alone at Casa Mono: my Manchego salad, razor clams, and creme catalan. The most perfect meal.
Walked to work. Bit cold again. Met Kelleher at Equinox. We took this class IntenSati that kicked my ass. It was a little hokey though. Dinner at Rocking Horse in Chelsea and then home.
Woke. Made breakfast for everyone and straightened the house and hung the fashion illustrations. Eric had driven my car and did not realize how low the gas was so I was unable to drive his friends to the train in time! Dropped them off, drove Ferris and Alireza home, and came home and chilled. Dinner with Ryan Brown at Vynl. Then off to Socialista, which was too packed and too small. At 9:30PM I remembered why I don't really go out anymore. Ventured home.
Ferris, Alireza, and I had breakfast in Rhinebeck and did the Target/Lowes run. Put the outdoor furniture out and the grill. Finally! 70 degrees. Ferris planted some herbs and Alireza and I drew fashion illustrations. I picked up Eric Riley and his friends Micah and Peter at the train station. Martinis mixed. Eric's friend Kara arrived. Made dinner with Ferris: butter lettuce/goat cheese salad, grilled asparagus, carrots, onions, and chicken. Watched A Dirty Shame and 30 Rocks.
After work Alireza and Ferris and I drove upstate. Watched 30 Rocks and ate pork and salad. We retired to bed at 9:30PM! I read more. Almost done Middlesex. Gonna read Mere Christianity next.
The current issue of ReadyMade features the headboard I designed with skateboards. It is a full page image and looks fantastic. Pick up a copy or you can see it in ReadyMade's digital version.
Crazy day at work. Hunter and Sandra came over. Had champagne for Hunter's birthday. Dinner at Aspen with Jamie and Ben too. Sucked. Kissed Ben and Sandra and Jamie goodbye and went to Shag with Hunter. Kelleher and Ben Roussel and Corey Spears! Club Soda and some pics and then I left Hunter in my friend's careful hands. Ben is going to Australia tomorrow. Wah.
The above image, I’ll admit, caused me to wince. I thought, “who would do such a thing to such a perfect design?” The answer is Mark Wentzel, an artist in Georgia represented by Project 4 Gallery in Washington, D.C. His “XLounge” is a conceptual piece focusing on the “masterful design of the Eames Lounge Chair and its significance today.” It is a statement on the chair and America’s consumption of products.
After I posted this at DWR's blog Mr. Wentzel emailed me about the irony of his artwork and the post below in which Alfie Hume states "“Never, ever have an Eames chair overstuffed, It looks totally wrong, and it’s not the way the piece was intended to be.”
We both saw the humor there.
DWR staffers get asked all the time, “where can I find a good restorer for an original Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman?” Last week's New York Times asks that exact question and their answer is a great resource for those with chairs that are showing their age.
