Meeting with Azure Magazine today to plan an event. Ran home in the early afternoon and changed into Eames shoes, orange YSL jacket, Paul Smith bow tie, and orange Etro cords. Met Kimberly Oliver at DIFFA.
We strolled the tables and chit-chatted with people. She knew editors and designers. I knew Lady Bunny. Dined at the NY Times/DWR table with lovely people for NY Times, Maharam, and the television personalities Stacy London and Doug Wilson. Played catch with Doug using our mouths and jelly beans. Ms. London told me that black and red was too 80s. I informed her I was wearing orange. To colorful people like myself, orange is a world away from red. We had a blast. The 8 people at our table carried on, drank heavily, and stood out in a room that had great table designs, but the attendants were wearing too much black. This was a design industry event. More color!
I was whisked away at one point by The Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, from the Real Housewives of NYC. I just had to have the wine at her table. We escaped to it. She smoked inside. I drank the wine and wrapped banana leaves on my head. Photo Op! The wine was the exact wine every table had. I did not tell her.
Saw Maggie Rizer and Zac Posen and Chris March and every gay interior designer I see at the gym all the time. Loved Benjamin Moore's table made from paint swatches. And David Rockwell's table, completely knitted, was my fave. It even came with knit booties for its guests, including Richard Meier. I tried to steal them (look through this flickr album to see me wearing a pair). Alas, the Rockwell Group was not giving them away. Drats. I realized the party had peeked and I was getting no booties (how perfect for upstate, no?) so I kissed Kimberly, my new friends, Bunny, and my new tranny friend from Florida (again see the pics) goodbye and went home to bed. All before midnight.
Officially, a lightweight.
